This week was CRAZY!! But the majority of the crazy things happened yesterday.. Haha but yeah, the Vegas came to church!! It was so awesome. Literally so many prayers for six months answered when they showed up. I think they enjoyed it, but we're going over tonight for Sister Pace to say goodbye and we'll see what they thought. Fingers crossed! Still sending up prayers for them! But their little boy, Jakey, was climbing all over the pews during sacrament meeting, it was pretty funny. They're darling little kids.
So TRANSFERS. Oh man. This is how it went down. We got a text Saturday night from the zone leaders telling us that Sunday night at 9:30 we'd be having a transfer conference call--so all the missionaries would get on a conference call and President would read the "transfer doctrine." So all Sunday we were just waiting. It was painful. BUT! We got a call from President while we were at church! And we didn't answer of course, so we tried to call him back like an hour later, but we didn't get an answer. So then we were freaking out even more! President never calls missionaries!! Anyway, after like an hour of just staring at the phone, he called us back and called Sister Pace to be a Sister Training Leader! Woooo!! He didn't tell her where, but he told her she was leaving the area. We were freaking out, it was just so much good news! Not that I want Sister Pace to leave me or Tom's River, but because I know she wants to and she needs something new. Anyway, that was super crazy. Crazy party times. We had to take a walk around the apartment complex before she could calm down enough to do comp study. Hahaha
So Sunday night rolls around and we decided to go over to our STL's apartment for the transfer call. You don't want to be alone for earth-shattering stuff like that. So we went over and got on the call, and I'll send a picture of what we looked like. We were all super nervous! Sister McConkie and Sister Wood had gotten a call on Saturday telling them they would be doubled-out, which means they're both leaving the area. So they've been busy the last couple days cleaning out their apartment and writing about their people and packing up. But they didn't know where they were going! So 9:30 came and President got on the call. And oh man, there were SO MANY ANNOUNCEMENTS. We were dying. But we made it through alive and got our transfer results!! Sister McConkie and Wood are going together to Scotch Plains, and I'm staying here! My new companion will be Sister Smith! All I know is that she's only a transfer older than me and she's awesome! I can't wait to meet her :) but when Sister Wood heard she was going back to Scotch Plains she got so excited she fell over and hung up the phone!! And we tried to get back on, but we had to find the number and call it and enter this passcode and mute the phone and we ended up missing where Sister Pace was going! Hahaha oh man, we were freaking out. But we texted the district leaders and they let us know she's headed up to Morristown!
So today is a day full of packing and getting Sister Pace all ready to go! I think there's some zone activity going down.. But we might not be able to make it. We'll see. And tomorrow we drive up to transfer conference and do the ol' switcheroo! I'll drop off my momma with Sister Rogers to go up to MoTown and I'll pick up my Hermana Smith and come right back here. I'm so glad I'm staying. Being doubled out would be the WORST. Plus I just LOVE the people here. And I just got here! I have so much left to do in this area! So I'm happy with how it turned out :)
I also had a super awesome exchange with Sister McConkie this week! She got pretty sick the next morning, I sent a picture of that to mom. But it was awesome before that! On Friday we had a few appointments after some studies together. She's really chill and really knows what's up with missionary work. She's actually just about to start her last transfer, she's OLD! But she's super awesome. We taught a couple lessons, but they were all in Spanish and she doesn't speak any Spanish. We were with Maria and Antonio for one, and Antonio got his headlamp and his glasses to read his giant-print Book of Mormon. And Maria asked about cremation, polygamy, and worshiping images.. Good questions!! I was so glad she's getting more involved in the lessons and feeling open enough to answer and ask questions! But anyway, I had a great time with Sister McConkie. I talked to her about looking more outside myself and she gave me some great advice and everything. She's really great at listening, which is something I'm trying to work on too. It was fun to go out to pizza with her and talk about a ton of experiences on her mission--she's seen a lot of miracles and grown in a lot of ways.
We had a funny experience on Tuesday while teaching with Hermana Dircio (our RS president). We went to visit this investigator, Luisa, that lives in her apartment complex. She was running a little late, so we just decided to go in and meet her there! We called her and she said she was on her way, so we headed in. But Luisa was right outside her door talking with a friend.. We asked if we could share a message with her, but she said we should just come back tomorrow.. So we walked out into the parking lot, and Hermana Dircio came running up! We told her Luisa couldn't meet with us tonight, and she paused for a second, and then said "hmm.. let's see" and marches into her apartment! She told her Satan was attacking her and she needed to meet with us just for ten minutes. She finally let us in, and Hermana Dircio ended up giving like the whole lesson. She really "bore down in pure testimony" at Luisa, it was the greatest thing. She has NO fear. Hahaha she was like pointing and telling her about how "many are called and few are chosen" and all this stuff. It was too much. I just want to be her when I grow up. Haha then we left and we were walking her back to her apartment, and she asked if we wanted any ice cream! We agreed, because last time she'd given us otter pops and we thought that would happen again. Long story short, we ended up with a gallon of Neapolitan ice cream and a full box of ice cream cones. Hahaha Spanish Program!!! She's awesome. We also got a cake from a member we joined for breakfast the other day hahaha. Oh man.
Anyway, life is good! We're happy missionaries :) I can't wait to meet Sister Smith tomorrow! We've texted back and forth a couple times and I've heard she's really awesome! We'll do good work here, I'm sure. It's going to be so fun :) It'll be a nice, fresh start. Hopefully she likes to run and eat spinach.. Haha we'll see! But we'll work hard and get those Vegas to come to church consistently!
I love youuuu!! You're always in my thoughts and prayers :)
